General information: An archipelago in the Mozambique Channel, between Mozambique and Madagascar. Most of the population is involved in subsistence farming. The climate is tropical, being hot and humid on the coast, and cooler up in the region of Mt. Kartala.
Exports: Copra, vanilla, cocoa, coffee, cloves. Potential for tourism.
